KU Innovation Park

In 2021, KU Innovation Park engaged Millig Design Build to commission its new 66,000 sqft. state-of-the-art building located adjacent to the University of Kansas West Campus.

As an expert in complex laboratory systems and critical environments, Millig was the perfect choice to test and verify that the facility’s high-end wet lab, dry lab, and modern office spaces would provide a healthy, comfortable, and safe environment for the park's future tenants.

Millig's commissioning service activities occurred during the project's Design, Construction, Acceptance, and Post-Acceptance phases to identify and resolve discrepancies and concerns during the project’s multiple build-outs.

Wet Laboratory Commissioning

The commercial wet labs at the KU Innovation Park are designed to accommodate scientific experiments involving liquids, gases, and other hazardous materials, which require specialized equipment and systems to ensure the researchers' safety and the research's integrity.

Millig’s wet lab commissioning services were of critical importance due to the unique and complex nature of the building systems and the necessary requirements for safety, performance, and compliance.

Dry Laboratory Commissioning

KU Innovation Park’s commercial dry labs are designed for research and development activities that do not involve the use of liquids or gases. These spaces require a range of specialized equipment, environmental controls, and security measures, which the Millig team tested and verified to ensure build-outs met codes and regulations, and tenant needs.
